The Second Division consisted of the regular members and in
addition Referee Paul C. Dugan when award was rendered.
PARTIES TO DISPUTE:
SYSTEM FEDERATION NO. 156, RAILWAY EMPLOYES'
DEPARTMENT, AFL-CIO (Carmen)
THE LONG ISLAND RAIL ROAD COMPANY
DISPUTE: CLAIM OF EMPLOYES:
1. That under the current agreement, particularly Article III
of the August 19, 1960 Agreement, the Carrier improperly denied the
following named employes of the Carmen's Craft, holiday pay for
Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1960:
George S. Capuano, N. T. Della Valle, Andrew F. Gunther,
Joseph P. Perrone, Pasquale M. Ruggiero, John L. Izzo,
Joseph Daratany, J. Virgillio, Christian C. L. Reeberg,
Alfred M. Brown, Armand J. Malena, Peter Korycki,
Walter S. Mackevicus, John Allocca, P. J. Mecurio, Henry
Manns, Joseph P. Calderone, George Milne, Jr., Robert
McCann, Joseph P. Della Valle, Andrew Loria, Frank Urso,
Frederick Segue, Joseph P. McLaughlin, Ernest Varricchio,
John H. DeBarbieri, Anthony Vendegna, George Fortach,
Albert M. Carozza, George E. Saltys, John A. Smalkowski,
John C. Weaver, Boleslaw J. Olszewski, George S. Morrison,
John M. Paetz, John Niedzielski, E. P. Whalen.
2. That accordingly, the Carrier be ordered to compensate each
of the aforenamed employes eight (8) hours each at the applicable
pro rata rate for Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1960.
FINDINGS: The Second Division of the Adjustment Board, upon the
whole record and all the evidence, finds that:
The carrier or carriers and the employe or employes involved in this
dispute are respectively carrier and employe within the meaning of the
Railway Labor Act as approved June 21, 1934.
This Division of the Adjustment Board has jurisdiction over the dispute
involved herein.
Parties to said dispute were given due notice of hearing thereon.
The issue as to holiday pay herein for Thanksgiving Day, November 24,
1960, is similar to the issue decided by this Division in Award 5061, and for
the reasons stated in said award, we will sustain this claim.

Claim sustained.
