allegedly failed to live the 16 hours advance notice
before abolishing positions due to a strike by Shop
Craft employes. Carrier contends that the positions were not abolished,

The Carrier further .contends that there was a verbal agreement: (by telephone) between Carrier and lion -Cperating· General Chairman as to procedure for temporary suspension, and pursuant to such a;;Yee,,_-nt posted notices to advise the employees as soon as practicable. Tile notices read as follows:

              "In the event of a strike by the Shop Craft Employees on July 17, 1967, it will be necessary to reduce our forces consistent with the resultant curtailment and cessation of our operations.


                "Therefore, except as the employees clay be

              otherwise notified, all ex_i::t:irs4 positi_<-n^ will

              be tem por2r. ilv su sL n3c_d beginning at 12:01 a .rl. ,

              July 17, 1967 for the duration of the strike.

In view ofv this it is unnecessary to determine whether the General Chairman aUreed to waive the notice requirements.
