 STATEMENT Appeal by Lawrence Hedglin, trackman, from dis
 CLAIM : missal. Claim for reinstatement and all time lost.
 FINDINGS : After hearing had been held in the matter, claim
 ant was dismissed for excessive absenteeism.
 The record shows that he was absent without per-
 mission on five days in September 1982 and missed work a total of 18
 days that year. It also appears from this record that he had been
 suspended in 1980 for 15 days on one occasion and 30 days on another
 and in 1981 for 30 days; all three suspensions were for absenteeism.
 There is no basis on this record for setting aside or modifying Carrier's decision. Claimant has been given ample opportunity to improve his attendance record.

 AWARD : Claim denied.
