PARTIES) The Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks
TO )
DISPUTE) St. Louis Southwestern Railway Company

' OF CLAIM: Claim of the System Committee of the Brotherhood:

(1) That the senior extra Yard Clerk on each shift be allowed eight hours pay for each day that Switchmen perform switching by lists instead of cards, commencing on February 4, 1954, at East St. Louis (Valley Junction), Illinois, and subsequent days until violation is corrected.

(2) Claim for loss suffered by the $:00 A.M. - 4:00 P.M., Interchange Clerk, and the 4:55 P.M. to 12:55 A.M., Interchange Clerk for a minimum call of two hours at penalty rate due to Switchmen switching by lists instead of by cards, commencing with February 4e 1954, and for subsequent days until violation is corrected, which, we were informed, was corrected May 10, 1954.

FINDINGS: Claim here grew out of Carrier discontinuing one type of switching and
substituting therefor another type of switching. Carrier discontinued
use of cards and substituted switch lists th^refor. There was no work taken away
from the clerks that was exclusively theirs under the agreement. It was merely
a substitution that resulted in no loss of positions or work to the complaining
organization.
