SPECIAL BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT NO. 169
PARTIES The Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks
TO
DISPUTE) St. Louis Southwestern Railway Company
STATEIE;NT OF CLAM: Claim of the System Committee of the Brotherhood:
(1) That Carrier violated the rules of our current Agreement when it abolished the position of Storeroom Laborer, I11mo; tIissouri, a Group 3 position,
effective with close of business on December 4, 1953, and assigned the work
normally attached to the Laborer's job to Group 1 clerical workers.
(2) That Mr. R. R. Welker be reimbursed for loss suffered commencing with
December 5, 1953, and continuing until. the violation is corrected, due to the
abolishment of position of Storeroom Laborer occupied by him.
FINDINGS: It appears from the submissions in this case that the position abolished,
for which claim is made here, came about as a result of decrease in
duties to such an extent that the position was no longer necessary, and in assign
ing the remaining work to other employees was not in violation of the agreement.
AM: Claim denied.
