BROTHERHOOD OF RAITITAY AND STEAMSHIP CLERKS,
FREIGHT HANDLERS, EXPRESS AND STATION EMPLOYES
versus
THE CT1NTRAL RAILROAD COMPANY OF NEt'J JERSEY
STATM.4FNT OF CLAIM: Claim of the System Committee of the Brotherhood that,
(a) Carrier violated Rules 4(a) and 12(a) of the Clerks Agreement when they took work from the position of Clerk in the office
of Superintendent Motive Power & Rolling Equipment and unilaterally
transferred this work to Chief Clerk in the office of Superintendent
Locomotive Shops at Elizabethport, which is in another seniority
district., and
(b) Clerk C. Hahn be compensated at the time and one-half rate of
his position 0015.68 per day) for tyro hours on July 8,
1955.
At the Elizabethport Shops, six (6) employes were authorized to
distribute paychecks. One of them was on vacation and another of those
authorized distributed the paychecks instead of the replacement for the employs on vacation.
Here it appears that the work involved was a duty of specific employes
previously properly authorized to do so and was work of a character which the
Carrier had full right to so assign. Accordingly, the claim is without merit.
Claim denied.
