STATEMENT OF CLAIM-
1. Carrier violated the provisions of the Telegraphers' Agreement when it
refused to adjust the rate of pay for the positions of Agent at Tupper
Lake, N. Y., Saranac Lake, N. Y., and Valleyfield, P. Q., when the
duties and responsibilities were materially increased due to the consolidation of the ticket and freight agencies.
2. Carrier shall now be required to comply with the agreement provisions
stated in Article 20 (d) with increase in each Agent's rate of pay
commencing August 19, 1957, the date of the consolidation.
AWARD
:
It appears that this claim was progressed to the Board without joint consideration of the merits thereof at the local level on the property. This claim
is, therefore, remanded to the parties for the purpose of a joint evaluation of
the positions involved at Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake and Valleyfield. The rates
of pay for the positions in question are to be compared with the rates of pay for
similar positions in the same seniority district.
In the event the parties are unable to reach agreement on this dispute by
February 13, 1959, said dispute shall be returned to the Board for adjudication.
