Dispute Union Pacific Railroad Company

Statement
of Claim: (1) Carrier violated Agreement Rule 12 in dismissing
Machine Operator P. H. Gillespie effective January 16, 1984.

(2) Claimant P. H. Gillespie should now be allowed pay for all time lost beginning January 16, 1984, continuing until he is reinstated to service with all his seniority rights and vacation privileges restored unimpaired.

The Board has jurisdiction of this case.

Claimant, following a formal investigation thereon, was discharged from service as discipline for having falsified a second period time roll in November 1983 while working as Machine Operator on BDC-1 on the Wichita Subdivision at Ureka, Kansas.

The record, including Claimant's admissions against interest, support Carrier's conclusions as to Claimant's culpability.

Discharge for dishonesty has been deemed as being reasonable discipline in this industry.

Award: Claim denied.
