MISSOURI PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY STATEMENT OF CLAIM: Claim of the System Committee of the Brotherhood that:

(1) The Carrier violated the effective Agreement by failing to
assign to Water Service Repairmen the work of installing
'Freon' pipe line in the air conditioning system at the Freight House, Little
Rock, Arkansas, on July 8, 9, 10, 1958.

(2) Water Service Repairman E. F. Lovett and Water Service Repair
man Helper J. N. Pridmore be now reimbursed for eight (8) hours
each day at their respective rate of pay for each day involved in this claim.

FINDINGS : Carrier had an air conditioning system in its freight house at
Little Rock, Arkansas. On the dates specified in the claim traveling electricians moved the freon cooler to the outside of the building and installed copper tubing between that unit and the cooling unit inside to permit circulation of the freon gas back and forth between such units.

Normally air conditioning systems are all in one unit with tubing installed by the manufacturer and the carrier contends that this tubing is an integral pert of the air conditioning system as though it were all self-contained within one unit.

We find that such tubing did become an integral part of such air conditioning system after its installation, but find that the installation thereof is properly pipe work which should under the agreement have been performed by water service employes where employed and when performed outside shops.

While the claim is for 8 hours each day for three days, the Carrier shows that the time spent in installing the copper tubing was about 8 hours each for two traveling electricians. Accordingly, the claim will be sustained to the extent of 8 hours' pay for each of the claimants.

AWARD: Claim sustained to the extent stated in the Findings.
