1. Carrier violated the terms of the Agreement when on October 31, 1956,
Carrier permitted or required a clerk in the depot at Fostoria, Ohio,
to receive and copy a reservation message by phone direct with the
Reservation Bureau at Chicago, Illinois.
Carrier shall now compensate senior idle operator for one day's pay
for October 31, 1956.
FINDINGS:
The use of the telephone by a Clerk at Fostoria, Ohio to ask the central
reservation bureau in Chicago if reserved space is available for a passenger who
is waiting to
see
if he can ride to Chicago as a passenger on Carrier's train is
not work reserved solely to telegraphers, to the exclusion of all other crafts
or classes.
We have so held in similar claims and will hold here. A denial award is
required.
